Teen Finds Mom’s Frozen Body in Freezer

Woman identified as Shannon Herrin Huddleston, police say

A teenager found his mother's body in a freezer inside her Mineral Wells home on Thursday evening, police said.

The teen called police after finding Shannon Herrin Huddleston's frozen body in a storage freezer to find a TV dinner at about 6:30 p.m.

There was no visible trauma or evidence of foul play, but the investigation into her death is ongoing. Mineral Wells Police Chief Dean Sullivan said Huddleston's death is being investigated as a homicide.

Huddleston was last seen Thursday morning in her home while getting ready for work.

Sullivan said Shannon Huddleston's death could have been an accident, saying police have seen a few situations in which people become trapped inside freezers after falling inside.

Investigators did not provide any information on how long Huddleston may have been inside the freezer before being discovered.

Police have transported the body to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation.

Meanwhile, investigators are working to construct a timeline by speaking with family members and neighbors to see when Huddleston was last contacted.

No suspects have been identified. Huddleston's husband, Cecil, was arrested on an unrelated and unspecified parole violation.

NBC 5's Keaton Fox, Frank Heinz and Omar Villafranca contributed to this report.
