Texas Wildfire Update: Friday

PK's 101 Ranch Fire now 95 Percent Contained

The Texas Forest Service said Friday that the Bastrop County Complex Fire southeast of Austin is now 80 percent contained.

The TFS is including the 719-acre Union Chapel Fire as part of the Bastrop Complex which has now charred more 34,068 acres and destroyd 1,554 homes.

There is no fire burning outside of the containment lines and firefighters are working to protect homes inside the perimeter.

The fire in Bastrop County is easily the single most devastating wildfire in Texas in more than a decade, eclipsing the Possum Kingdom Lake blaze that destroyed 168 homes in April. Texas Forest Service spokeswoman April Saginor said state wildfire records go back only to the late 1990s.
