Plummer Elementary School in Cedar Hill was forced to close Wednesday due to an investigation into an act of vandalism.
Overnight, someone broke into the school, damaged equipment and shattered windows. The vandals even tossed computers onto the campus lawn.
"There have been a lot of computers removed from the classrooms and we don't yet know how many were stolen," said Cedar HIll ISD spokesperson, Kim Lewis.
The school is to remain closed while officers with the Cedar Hill Independent School District, the Cedar Hill Police Department and the Dallas County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
"One of the first things the principal told me is how devastated she was that all she had worked so hard to accomplish could be gone," said Lewis.
Parents were informed of the closure by the school district's phone message system. Those who didn't receive the message were turned away upon arrival on campus. Students who arrived at school without their parents were taken to the Cedar Hill High School Performing Arts Center where their parents could pick them up.
"I got a phone call that stated that the school had been vandalized or burglarized and that I needed to come get him as soon as possible," said Chasity Mullins, her 6-year-old son Kainyn is a student at Plummer.
