Undefeated Katy Could Be Kicked Out of 6A Playoffs

Undefeated Katy High School faces a disciplinary hearing and could be kicked out of the Class 6A Division II playoffs if found to have used an ineligible player.

The University Interscholastic League scheduled an emergency hearing for Thursday in Austin. Katy (13-0) is scheduled to face Manvel (11-2) in the 6A Division II Region III final on Saturday in Houston.

A UIL spokeswoman says that if Katy used an ineligible player, the player could be suspended for the rest of the playoffs or the entire team could be forced to forfeit a victory and be removed.

Katy beat Friendswood 66-0 last weekend.

Katy has won seven state championships and played in the finals the last three years.
