Children's Medical Center in Dallas made Internet history Monday.
A father gave a kidney to his 3-year-old son, while Tweets were sent during the procedure.
It's the first time the social networking site had been used to give updates on a transplant surgery.
John Gilbreath was born with kidney problems and had been on dialysis since birth when both of his kidneys were removed. His father, Chris Gilbreath, is a firefighter in Sherman.
Hospital staff in Chris's operating room at UT Southwestern University Hospital tweeted about his surgery to remove his kidney while staff in the the Children's Medical Center operating room of his son, John Gilbreath, tweeted about him receiving the kidney.
The 2:24 p.m. tweet said: "John is all stitched up and will be receiving an epidural for pain management."
If the surgery is successful, then Sunday night will have been John's last dialysis treatment.
