Texas Teen Charged with Capital Murder in Mother's Death

Prosecutors say a 14-year-old Southeast Texas boy accused of strangling and stabbing his pregnant mother has been charged with capital murder in her death.

The Galveston County Daily News reports online Tuesday that the Galveston County District Attorney's Office said he'd been charged with capital murder.

First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Petroff says prosecutors have yet to decide whether they'll try to certify him to stand trial as an adult.

Petroff says the teen remains in custody in a juvenile facility.

The boy's 33-year-old mother was found dead on Sept. 26 inside her La Marque home. Authorities say the motive in the killing is unclear.

The Associated Press is not naming the boy because he is a juvenile or his mother because it would identify the boy.
