North Texas residents in the Azle area experienced dozens of earthquakes in 2013. In 2014, they’ll get to ask state officials what is being done about the rumbles.
Texas Railroad Commissioner David Porter will be in Azle Thursday afternoon for a townhall meeting.
A media release said Porter will "listen to resident's concerns and outline what he plans to do as Railroad Commissioner."
The latest news from around North Texas.
The earthquakes have a lot of residents asking what is triggering the quakes. The U.S. Geological Survey and the Texas Railroad Commission are conducting tests to find out.
Many residents point to nearby gas drilling, but no studies have come back with conclusive evidence.
"I'm 47-year-old. I was born and raised here, so I'd kind of like to know what is going on," said Bobby Allen, of nearby Pelican Bay.
The meeting is scheduled to take place Thursday, Jan. 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Azle High School on 1200 Boyd Road.
