Texas Company to Pay $170,000 for 2010 Wyoming Oil Spill

A Texas-based company will pay $170,000 to settle with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over a 2010 oil spill in Big Horn County.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that the EPA announced Wednesday that they had resolved alleged Clean Water Act violations with Enduro Resource Partners, of Fort Worth, Texas.

In March 2010 162 barrels of crude oil discharged from a pipeline into a tributary of the Norwood River. The spill has been fully cleaned up.

The government argued that Cottonwood Creek Inc., which operated the oil gathering station at the time of the spill, failed to develop spill prevention and response plans before the incident.

Executives from Cottonwood's parent company Kinder Morgan inked the settlement, but Enduro will pay the fine.
