Sometimes marching to the beat of your own drum leads to big rewards, and a North Texas high school marching band knows this as well as anyone.
Rowlett High School's Mighty Eagle Band packed up buses and headed to San Antonio for their sixth UIL State Marching Band Contest Monday morning.
The Mighty Eagle Band is the only Garland Independent School District band to ever qualify for the contest.
The State Marching Band Contest takes place at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Alamodome and is open to the public as well as available for live stream.
