One Dead, One Injured in Overnight Dallas Shooting

A drug deal gone bad left one man dead, another hospitalized and police searching for a killer Wednesday.

Dallas police said the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday on Bellafonte Drive in Dallas.

Investigators said two people were meeting another man at 12200 Bellefonte. According to investigators, one man had a short conversation with the pair before he pulled a gun and opened fire.

Police believe the two men who were shot late Tuesday night had been trying to sell drugs, the Associated Press reports.

Both the victims and the gunman fled the scene. The gunman is still at large.

The two injured victims called 911 and headed for a hospital. During the call, dispatchers had the injured driver stop the car at a Shell gas station at 3000 Knox Street and Central Expressway.

An ambulance arrived on the scene shortly thereafter to find the passenger had died from his gunshot wounds. The injured driver was transported by paramedics to Baylor Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.

Homicide detectives hope to learn more about the incident after speaking with the wounded driver.

Police did not identify the names of either victim.
