Mesquite Asks for Input on Smoking Ordinance

City sets up online poll about possible changes

Mesquite has set up an online poll for people to voice their opinion about possible changes to the city's smoking ordinance.

In January, a task force was created to look into whether or not the city's ordinance should be expanded to include bans in places such as restaurants and public parks. Two public hearings were held, and the creation of the online poll was implemented to further gauge residents' opinions.

The poll is available on the city's Web site at www.cityofmesquite.com. Respondents' name and address must be filled out in order for their votes to count.

The task force is expected to complete its information gathering work within the next month. It is expected to present its findings to the Mesquite City Council sometime this spring.
