The Dallas Mavericks are getting creative to ensure fans are in their seats for Thursday's home playoff game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Mavs and Thunder are tied 1-1 in their first round playoff series, which now heads to the American Airlines Center for an early 6 p.m. tipoff.
On Wednesday, the team released an "excuse note" that pleads for bosses to let their employees leave work early to root for the Mavs.
Fans leaving work early were encouraged to use the hashtag #MavsSkipDay on social media.
The note teases to a dramatic pre-game speech from Mavs owner Mark Cuban.
