The Plano Police Department is investigating after a man was hit and killed by a vehicle Wednesday evening.
Officer David Tilley told NBC 5 that a vehicle exiting from a driveway near the intersection of Coit Road and West Parker Road collided with one of two people walking along Coit at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Tilley said a couple, husband and wife, were walking together on a southbound sidewalk along the northbound side of Parker near Coit.
A car was about to pull onto Parker and stopped, looked at oncoming traffic and pulled out without looking forward, Tilley said. The car struck the man as he walked in front of it.
He was dragged approximately 40 feet and was reported to be unconscious when taken to a Plano hospital, where he later died.
The woman walking with him was not injured.
The driver didn't show any signs of impairment and no criminal intent was noted, Tilley said.
