New Fund to ‘shine a Light' on Community Needs in Growing Collin County

FRISCO — Corporate relocations, big developments and shiny new businesses have helped turned Collin County into one of the nation's fastest growing areas. Just as important, though, is what the newcomers don't always see. The family that can't pay its mortgage. The teen living out of his car. The single mom who doesn't have enough money for groceries.So to help with those and other social service issues, the Communities Foundation of Texas is establishing a permanent dedicated fund for Collin County to support nonprofits that are tackling the area's most urgent needs."It's time that CFT steps up and elevates our investment and focus here," said Dave Scullin, the foundation's president and CEO.On Monday, before a crowd of several hundred people, the foundation announced it is putting $500,000 into the newly created fund with an ultimate goal of at least $1 million.
