Saturday is the last day of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo but the 2014 Grand Champion Steer was named Friday.
18-year-old Flint Newman of Stanton and his 16-month-old steer named Here I Am won the big honor. Newman was last year's Reserve Grand Champion. He's been showing since second grade.
Here I Am will be auctioned Saturday.
The auction of the Grand Champion steer, barrows, lambs and goats raised by Texas students goes toward their college scholarships.
Newman hopes the winning bid for Here I Am is more than $200,000. Last year's Grand Champion Steer went for $205,000.
Newman plans to attend Texas Tech University.
