A fundraiser for a popular Fort Worth festival did more harm than good, and event organizers are blaming summer's triple-digit temperatures.
Organizers said Sunday's Save Mayfest fundraiser concert resulted in a $5,000 debt.
"The heat just killed us," Mayfest's executive director Elizabeth Basham told the Star Telegram. "Costs, including security, tents, chairs and other expenses ate up more than the ticket revenue."
The already struggling event lost $500,000 when it was cancelled this year over the swine flu scare.
The event has been going on since 1973 and organizers said they won't give up on it.
