First Quake of 2014 Recorded Near Azle

After a very shaky November and December, most of North Texas has enjoyed some relative seismic silence in 2014.

Until this weekend anyway.

On Saturday, the United States Geologic Survey reported a 2.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Azle, with the epicenter under Eagle Mountain Lake.

The quake was reported just before 3 p.m.  On the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, the quake registed a III, which indicates weak shaking and no damage reported.

In the Azle area, there were 15 quakes recorded in November and another seven in December.  Saturday's quake was the first recorded this year for cluster.
