Dallas Firefighter Burned by Falling Debris While Fighting Apartment Fire

One firefighter is being treated for minor burns after being hit by falling debris while battling a three-alarm fire at an apartment complex in far North Dallas Wednesday.

According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, the fire started at about 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Village at Farmers Creek apartments in the 4200 block of Trinity Mills Road.

When firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming from an exterior boiler room closet. They made their way in and found fire burning in the ceiling space and between the boiler room and a shop above it.

"The fire had already made its way across the floor and into the exterior walls," DFR said.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to that area, sparing any residences from fire or water damage.

One firefighter was hit by falling debris and suffered minor burns. The firefighter was hospitalized as a precaution.

No injuries to any residents have been reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
