Man Arrested for Kidnapping Woman in Farmers Branch

Farmers Branch police rescued the woman

Police rescued a woman being held against her will in Farmers Branch Sunday afternoon.

Farmers Branch police said they were called to a building in the 3600 block of Belt Line Road at about 12:30 p.m.

They said the woman called and reported that a man named Javier Alfredo Leal had assaulted and threatened her, and would not let her leave.

When police arrived on the scene, Leal barricaded himself inside the building.

Officers said they forced their way into the building because they were worried about the woman's safety. Police found her and rescued her.

Officials said that once police obtained an arrest warrant for Leal, they entered the building again and found him in the attic. Leal was arrested and charged with kidnapping.

Police haven’t released the name of the hostage at this time.
