An unsolved murder in Fort Worth has the victim's family pleading for help.
Tiara Williams, 18, had just returned home from college for winter break when she was shot and killed in the city's Stop Six neighborhood.
Police continue to investigate Tuesday's shooting and say there was no update as of Friday afternoon.
The latest news from around North Texas.
"Tiara was the goofiest, probably silliest person you will ever meet," said Amber Mitchell, Williams' step-mother. "She was our heart."
Williams was not only loved by her large family in the Fort Worth area, but she made her family incredibly proud in her 18 years.
"She was her dad's princess. Her mom's apple of her eye," Mitchell said.
Williams graduated with honors from Dunbar High School in 2017. She was captain of the cheerleading squad.
Williams earned a full college scholarship in Oklahoma and had just returned to Fort Worth for winter break last week.
"She did not deserve to be taken away from us so soon," Mitchell said.
Mitchell says a lot is still unknown about what happened at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
"She was with a family friend and one of her friends," Mitchell said.
Police say they responded to a shooting on Ramey Avenue.
Officers found Williams inside the Stop 6 Food Store with apparent gunshot wounds. The teen died at the scene.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office said Williams died after being shot in the back.
Her death has been ruled a homicide.
"I would say wrong place, wrong time," Mitchell said.
The family hopes anyone with information to come forward.
"Tell somebody, because she needs that justice, she deserves that justice," she said.
Williams would have turned 19 in January.
Her family is now preparing for her wake on Sunday at Greater Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church from 6 to 7 p.m.
Williams' funeral services are set for Monday at The Potter's House of Fort Worth at noon.
"She will never get to see her little brother grow up. Her dad won't walk her down the aisle. Her mom won't get to dress her for her weddings day," Mitchell said. "We miss her a lot."
