Drilling-Related Smog in Dallas Area Could Cause Highest Number of Children's Asthma Attacks in U.S.

Smog from oil and gas production could be responsible for a nation-worst 45,800 asthma attacks among Dallas-area children by 2025, according to a new study from two environmental groups.

The report, "Gasping for Breath," also estimated that industry-related smog would cause 750,000 summer asthma attacks among children and lead to 500,000 missed days of school. The research from Clean Air Task Force and Earthworks also projected more than 2,600 asthma- or other respiratory-related emergency room visits or hospital admissions.
