Investigation Underway After Student Brings Gun to DISD Elementary School

A student brought a gun to a Dallas ISD elementary school on Tuesday, without adults becoming aware of its presence until the following dayAdministrators at Highland Meadows Elementary found out about the gun only after another student who had seen it informed a parent. The student who brought the weapon confirmed doing so on Wednesday. It's unclear if the gun was loaded."We are aware a gun made its way to campus yesterday," said Dallas ISD news and information director Robyn Harris. "We appreciate the student coming forward to alert an adult. There's an investigation that's ongoing to fully understand what happened."Highland Meadows, in the Lake Highlands neighborhood in northeast Dallas, serves around 760 students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.  Continue reading...
