Police in Kaufman County have released dashcam video of a chase in which a man allegedly used a semi-truck to try to run over a police officer.
Video recorded from several officers' vehicles show police following a man who, police said, was driving a stolen Mack semi-truck out of a construction site.
Officers found the vehicle driving along Texas Highway 171 (West Fair Street) near South Jefferson Street and attempted to pull the driver over. When the driver wouldn't stop, a short chase began.
After the truck ran over spike strips placed in the road by police, the driver of the truck attempted to run over an officer, according to Kaufman police.
At that time, the officer fired at the oncoming truck, hitting the driver and ending the pursuit.
The driver, identified as Chris Mathis, was taken to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas where he was later arrested.
