Dallas Mayor Kicks Off Summer Jobs Program for Young People

This is the second year of the "Dallas Works" program

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced state helicopters, planes and Texas Rangers are being directed to help Dallas police in the fight agaist the spike in violent crime. NBC 5's Ken Kalthoff reports this comes after Mayor Eric Johnson spoke out about crime and called the governor's office.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is kicking off the second year of his summer jobs program for young people.

The program, called "Dallas Works," is set to begin on Monday.

The goal of the program is to connect Dallas students with paid employment opportunities.

Mayor Johnson will share details about the program and announce an expansion of eligibility at Dallas City Hall Plaza at 10 a.m.
