Dallas Detectives Solve Cold Case Killing

Dallas police charged a 35-year-old man in the killing of a man they said they found severely beaten more than eight years ago.

On Sept. 23, 2007, police said they found Eliazar Flores in a pool of blood and initially thought he had been shot. He was transported to a hospital where staff determined he had been severely beaten by an unknown object.

Police said Flores died from his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities said they recovered Flores' truck, which had been taken, and took DNA swabs.

A preliminary DNA match was made in August 2015. Police said they interviewed the identified suspect, JoJo Wilson, who was in the Dallas County Jail on unrelated charges, and secured a warrant for a DNA sample.

Based on the DNA comparison, police said they charged Wilson with capital murder.
