Dallas Church Reopens Two Months After Storm

It was a joyous Sunday for New Beginning Covenant Ministry, which officially reopened its front doors almost two months after a storm ripped it off.

The church, located on Canada Drive and Westmoreland, showed off its newly renovated look to its congregation of 120.

โ€œWhen it looked like everything was all lost I decree and I declare that this building will be built back in order Praise God,โ€ said Pastor Vincent Young.

The church goers were displaced for seven weeks after the May 8 storm destroyed their place of worship. Parishioners said this was the second time that a storm has devastated their church. This time, they had to reconstruct the entire front of their building.

โ€œWe were out here helping to move bricks, clean bricks, and from doing the frame and working electrical work we did all just tried to be a part of everything,โ€ said Young.

Cedar Hill resident LaDonna Harlan said she never lost faith that her church will stand up again soon.

โ€œGod always has an answer, he always has a way of escape, he will always provide, so donโ€™t look at it from the negative perspective, just go with expectation that God is going to do something great,โ€ she said.

Harlan said other churches, neighbors, and organizations stepped in during their time of need.

โ€œThey donated money, they donated their time, another facility donated their building for us to have worship, and itโ€™s like we never missed a beat,โ€ she said.

She said her faith got a boost during the process of rebuilding, and the congregation is coming out stronger from the experience.

โ€œIโ€™m excited. He showed out once again, so not only do we get a new building, I mean itโ€™s really an upgrade compared to what it was before, so itโ€™s amazing,โ€ she said.
