Accident kills fish, turns Trinity River red

An accidental chemical spill led to a fish kill along parts of the Trinity River in Fort Worth.

The city's water department said about 2,500 gallons of a chemical used to treat drinking water was accidentally discharged into the river near the South Holly Water Treatment Plant.

The accident killed some fish in the area and turned the water red.

The incident has been reported to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
