Case of Plano Teen Accused of Sexually Assaulting Children Now in Adult Court

The case of a 17-year-old Plano high school baseball standout charged with sexually assaulting a 5-year-old at his mother's home day care has been returned to adult court a day after being moved to juvenile court.

A Collin County judge granted prosecutors' motion at a hearing Thursday to return Zachary Holifield's case to adult court.

The judge also reduced bond for Holifield, who is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child, from $600,000 to $250,000.

Holifield was arrested on June 20.

His attorney, Peter Schulte, says Holifield denies the allegations.

Schulte, who had argued for the move to the juvenile system, said he was surprised by the reversal but pleased bond was reduced.
