Body Found Buried at Texas Home in Search for Missing Child

Police believe 3-year-old Rayven Shields was last seen in mid-June

The mother of a missing 3-year-old was arrested Wednesday on a charge of interference with child custody after she became uncooperative with a Child Protective Services investigation into the girl's welfare.

Authorities searching for the 3-year-old have found a body buried in the backyard of a Bryan home where the child lived.

Bryan police aren't identifying the remains found Friday night but say they're consistent with the size of a young child. Police say the decomposing body has been sent for an autopsy. No charges have been filed yet in connection to the body's discovery.

Police believe Rayven Shields was last seen in mid-June. Police began the search  this week after her mother, Virginia Ann Adams, became uncooperative with a Child Protective Services investigation into Shields' welfare.

Adams, 35, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of interference with child custody. She remained jailed Sunday on $75,000 bond. Jail records didn't list an attorney for her.
