George W. Bush Museum and Library Names New Director

The George W. Bush Library and Museum has named a new director, several months after the departure of the previous director.Retired Brig. Gen. Patrick Mordente was named as the new director by Archivist of the United States David Ferriero, according to a press release on the announcement. Mordente will begin his role Monday. "Patrick's extensive federal experience leading large organizations, especially team building, process improvement, and crisis management, will greatly benefit the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the National Archives," Ferriero said in a written statement. Mordente is replacing the museum's former director Alan Lowe, who left in July after he was appointed director of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Ill. Mordente is a 1987 graduate of the U. S. Air Force Academy and a 29-year veteran of the Air Force. He has served within the Department of Defense, including the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. He is also a combat veteran who served in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
