Sport utility vehicle drivers beware: Thieves stole the third-row seats from nearly a dozen vehicles over the weekend in Dallas.
Dallas police said all of the vehicles were General Motors SUVs, including Cadillac Escalades, Chevrolet Tahoes and Suburbans and GMC Yukons.
Detectives said the thieves work in crews and target neighborhoods with a high concentration of SUV's. The thieves can remove the third-row seating in a matter of seconds, police said.
“We were stunned,” said Carter Bill, who lives on Joyce Way in Dallas. “We are careful about locking our doors because we are always worried my car seats or my stroller would get stolen, but never an actual part of the car.”
Besides parking an SUV in a garage, police say it’s wise to etch some type of marking into the third-row seating so police can return the seats if police recover them.
