A 38-year-old man in an Iowa jail has been accused of setting fire to a car outside the Texas Capitol on Aug. 7.
A Texas Department of Public Safety statement issued Thursday says Iowa resident Michael Patrick Wagner was arrested in Marion, Iowa, on an unrelated charge.
Two Texas Rangers and a special DPS agent have been dispatched to Iowa with an arrest warrant charging Wagner in Travis County with second-degree felony arson.
Extradition proceedings are pending.
The fire involved a car parked inside a secure lot on the Capitol's south side.
The DPS says a Capitol Complex parking ticket allowed agents to identify Wagner's vehicle and led them to the Linn County Jail in Iowa.
