Neighborhood Safe After Suspicious Device Investigation

Haltom City police determined a suspicious device found in a residential neighborhood early Wednesday was not a bomb.

Cpl. Joe Hackfeld, with the Haltom City Police Department, said they received a call at about 6:30 a.m. after a resident found the device in the road in front of 3529 Rita Lane.

Haltom City police described the device as an "electrical device with wires" that was about the size of a cellphone battery.

Rita Lane, between Webster Street and Vicki Street, was shut down while police investigated. No homes were evacuated during the investigation.
