Police Arrest Man in Trailer Park Shooting

Police said a 63-year-old man was arrested after three people were killed and a child injured in a shooting at a trailer park in South Texas.

Corpus Christi police said Sammuel Toomey is charged with capital murder of multiple persons and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He's being held at the Nueces County jail on a $3.1 million bond.

Toomey made a brief court appearance Monday and was assigned a court-appointed attorney. He had heavy bruising and abrasions to his face. Corpus Christi police said Toomey was injured when he struggled with officers during his arrest.

Police said when officers arrived at the trailer park Sunday evening, they found a 32-year-old woman, a 53-year-old woman and 56-year-old man dead outside different residences.

A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Corpus Christi police said the boy was upgraded from critical to good condition after having surgery. Authorities said the boy was expected to survive.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported the victims were identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office as: Pamela Kay Rhodes, 63; Ricky Ray Collier, 56; and Laura Elaine Ogden, 32.

Neighbors and witnesses helped police locate the suspect.

Police said the exteriors of several homes were processed as part of a "complex crime scene."

Police alleged the attack stemmed from ongoing disputes between Toomey and his neighbors.
