Plano Officers Involved in Separate Crashes Overnight

Two Plano police officers were involved in separate crashes overnight Thursday.

The more serious of the two crashes took place near the intersection of Legacy Drive and the northbound Frontage Road to U.S. 75. at about 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Investigators said an off-duty police officer ran a red light and struck an on-duty officer in a patrol car, police said. Both officers were seriously injured in the crash, though neither suffered life-threatening injuries.

Earlier in the evening, a Plano officer was responding to a call when his squad car hydroplaned. The officer lost control of the car, though was not injured in the crash.
