Man Gets 25 Years for Fatally Stabbing Cousin Over Water Hose

A Central Texas man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of his cousin during a fight about a water hose left running.

The Austin American-Statesman reported Tuesday that 48-year-old Reggie Horton was sentenced for the January 2013 death of 41-year-old James Prestage.

The stabbing happened at a residence in Leander where both cousins lived. Travis County deputies answered a call about two men fighting.

An affidavit says the cousins argued because a hose used to water horses had been left on overnight.

Court records in Austin show Horton pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced Feb. 21.
