Man Charged in San Antonio Beating Death

Police say a 21-year-old man is accused in what witnesses say appears to have been an unprovoked fatal beating of a man at a San Antonio train station last week.

The San Antonio Express-News reports 21-year-old Michael Joseph Fobbs Jr. of Cibolo was charged with murder after the Thursday attack. Fobbs remained in Bexar County jail Tuesday on $150,000 bond.

Fobbs told police he felt threatened by the man on the bench, but that the man had done "nothing" to make him feel that way.

Police wrote in a report that Fobbs "did not appear to be in a normal state of mind."

His court-appointed attorney, Michael Granados, said he hadn't yet met with his client and had no comment.
