Leppert Donates Part of Salary to Education

Dallas Mayor give $10,000 to mentoring program

Mayor Tom Leppert is donating the remainder of his official annual salary,  $10,000, to Destination: Graduation.

"This is a program with a proven track record that is making a difference in schools with high number of economically disadvantaged kids," said Mayor Leppert. "It’s a solid and innovative program that not only gets students through high school, but makes sure they can succeed in college as well."

Destination: Graduation is a United Way education initiative designed to boost graduation rates and prepare students for higher education.

Three Dallas ISD high schools participate in Destination: Graduation - Kimball, Samuell and Thomas Jefferson.

Two Collin County schools also participate.

The $10,000 donation is the remainder of the annual $60,000 salary he receives as Dallas mayor.
