Bush said in a post-9/11 world the family's dogs and cats brought the first family comfort during the holidays and were the theme that Christmas.
Curators at the museum recreated the 2002 displays and incorporated them with behind-the-scenes photos for a one-of-a-kind Christmas display.
In an exclusive interview with NBC 5's Meredith Land, Bush talks about the family's plans for this Christmas in Dallas and how they plan to celebrate the holiday with their children and grandchild while also sharing what she and the former president have been doing to keep busy nearly six years after leaving Washington D.C.
The All Creatures Great and Small: Christmas at the White House 2002 installation will be on display at the presidential center and museum through Jan. 13, 2015.
