Large Vigil Held For Dallas County Shooting Victims

Suspect finally transferred from hospital to jail.

On the night when Dallas County shooting suspect Erbie Bowser left Parkland Hospital for his cell at the Dallas County Jail, relatives of some of the victims were focused on remembrance.

There was an outpouring of support of support Saturday night as dozens mourned the loss of two women killed during a shooting spree in Dallas County this week. The DeSoto street where one of those shootings took place was full of family and friends on Saturday.

They came together to remember Zina Bowser and her daughter Neima Williams, two of the four women killed. Another four people were injured Wednesday night at two homes, one in Dallas and the other in DeSoto. Police say Erbie Bowser is responsible.

The candlelight vigil is something neighbors and friends said everyone who knew Zina Bowser and Williams needed, a chance and a place to grieve.

Through songs and prayers, the family and community came together to do just that.

"I'm going to miss her so much," one speaker said through tears and gasps.

Just feet from where the pair were killed in their DeSoto home, dozens of neighbors, co-workers, friends and family came to light candles and share stories.

"It just says how wonderful of a person she was, not only a family person, but she had a sisterhood out here, from her sorority, her community, it was just an awesome occasion," said Carolyn Edwards, Zina's first cousin who drove up from near Houston to help her family.

It was an occasion those who knew her best said they needed.

"People needed somewhere to go," Katina Potts said.

It was also an opportunity to confront the reason why the women were killed, domestic violence..

"Speak against it because we do not want this tragedy to happen," one speaker said.

"Nobody deserves to die like that, nobody," said another woman.

And while a small memorial of pictures, stuffed animals and flowers grew out in front of the home, Bowser's sister told the crowd their focus remains on family members still hospitalized.

"I appreciate you guys, keep us in your prayers," she said.

An 11-year-old boy wounded at the DeSoto house is up and playing video games in the hospital. But a 13-year-old will remain hospitalized for some time she said. On Friday, a family friend said he may be paralyzed following the shooting. The family told NBC 5 off camera that they're keeping their boys in their thoughts and prayers. Just as they are the women who are gone.

"We love her, we're going to miss her, and we ask that you continue to keep our family in prayer," Edwards said.

The Dallas County Sheriff's office says that Erbie Bowser was booked at Lew Sterrett Justice Center shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday. He had been at Parkland Hospital since Wednesday night receiving treatment, though his injuries have never been disclosed.
