Dallas Police Arrest 4 After High-Speed Chase

Dallas police arrested four people Monday after a high-speed police chase that twisted through several neighborhoods.

The chase began at Interstate 30 and MacArthur at about 4:15 p.m., when officers ran the plates on a suspicious vehicle and learned it was stolen during an aggravated robbery on April 25, police said.  A copy of the original police report can be viewed here.

Halfway through the chase, a woman and a man jumped out of the 1994 Cadillac and took off on foot in a neighborhood. Several officers jumped out of their squad cars and followed, quickly arresting the pair.

After the brief stop, the two people remaining in the vehicle continued on with a trail of police cars following. At one point in the chase, helicopter video showed the Cadillac nearly collide with a police cruiser as it darted out into an intersection from an alley.

The chase ended at about 4:40 p.m. at Turner and Stewart after the other two people bailed out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Police arrested the pair a short time later.

At least four police cars were seen chasing the Cadillac, but Dallas police said the chase was justified.

"Dispatch was able to confirm that it was taken in an aggravated robbery, making it a valid felony," Lt. Daniel Gallegos said. "Therefore, we do have the authorization to chase at that point."

Residents in the neighborhood said the chase was dramatic, but the tense moments came when the driver stopped the car and ran away from police.

"The car was coming really fast, and he just stopped really fast right there, and he jumped out the car, and they started running," witness Victoria Palomo said. "One run that way, and one run that way. The police, they got out of the car and went straight to the car and then the police started coming over here, and more and more police started coming, and I was all like, 'Whoa.'"

There were no injuries reported. Detectives will not release the names of the people who were arrested until the victims of the aggravated robbery can see them in a photo lineup.
