Hasan to Appear at Another Pretrial Hearing

Hearing is set for 10 a.m. CDT

Another pretrial hearing is set in the case of the Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly 2009 Fort Hood shooting rampage.

Maj. Nidal Hasan will be in the courtroom Friday only if he shaved his beard. Last week, the judge said Hasan would be forcibly shaved sometime before his Aug. 20 military trial if he didn't shave on his own.

The beard violates Army regulations, but Hasan's attorneys say he's expressing his Muslim faith.

Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the massacre on the Texas Army post. He faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole if convicted.

Since growing the beard in June, Hasan has watched pretrial hearings on a closed-circuit television in a nearby trailer.
