Garland Police Arrest Man After Chase, Crash

Authorities said they arrested a man who led police on a chase on a stolen motorcycle before crashing in Arlington early Wednesday morning.

Garland police said an officer tried to stop a motorcyclist, 31-year-old John Groves, for speeding on Interstate 635 near Oates Drive at about 1 a.m. Groves fled police, continuing south on I-635 and then west on Interstate 30 through Dallas into Arlington, according to authorities.

Police said Groves lost control of the motorcycle trying to exit I-30 at Six Flags Drive, sliding off the road onto a grassy area.

Officers took Groves into custody without incident. He was transported by ambulance to Methodist Dallas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they later discovered the motorcycle was reported stolen by Dallas County Sheriff's Department Dec. 15.

Groves faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest.
