Ex-Dallas Cop in Crime Stoppers Scam Sentenced

A former Dallas police officer who led the city's Crime Stoppers program is scheduled to be sentenced for her admitted role in running a rewards scam.

Theadora Ross of Rowlett pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and income tax evasion. U.S. District Judge David Godbey is expected to sentence Ross Monday morning in Dallas.

Ross admitted to giving a co-defendant bogus tip numbers and code words to collect rewards from a bank and share the money.

She admitted the co-defendant, Malva Delley, would deposit the cash directly into her bank account. She acknowledged concealing more than $170,000 in income over four years on her tax returns.

Delley has already pleaded guilty.
