“Evening Burglar” Suspects Caught in the Act: Police

Arrests came after lengthy investigation by multiple agencies

Police say they have arrested two suspects believed to be involved in a series of burglaries across North Texas.

Plano police said detectives caught Corey Lee Caldwell, 42, after he committed a residential burglary, and was arrested as he tried to leave the scene at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. Caldwell was charged with three counts of burglary of a habitation.

Winston Riden, 60, who was arrested alongside Caldwell, was also charged with three counts of burglary of a habitation.

The arrests came after a lengthy investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies that worked to find the subject known as the "Evening Burglar", who has been linked to burglaries in Plano, Dallas, and Allen.

"Criminals sometimes go from city to city to avoid detection and arrest, so police departments must work closely together," said Plano Police Chief Gregory W. Rushin.

"All police agencies in the Dallas and Fort Worth area share information and coordinate efforts to collectively keep their communities safe", Rushin stated in an official release. "This case is an example of that inter-agency partnership."

Both suspects are being held at the Carrollton Police Jail, and detectives say the investigation is ongoing.
