Dallas Trinity River Levees Pass Inspection

The Dallas Trinity River levees have passed inspection for the first time since 2009, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

A letter to the City of Dallas on Thursday said 198 expensive repairs completed in the past five years have elevated the levees to a grade of "Minimally Acceptable" in the latest Corps of Engineers review.

It's an upgrade from the "Unacceptable" rating the levees received in 2009.

More than 200,000 people live and work in areas protected by the levees, and the improved rating helps secure insurance coverage for those areas.
