Historic Night for Dallas Police Academy Graduates

Most females than any other graduating class

After eight months of training at the Dallas police academy, 46 officers that make up the latest graduating class crossed the stage Friday.

"I joined to be the fabric of the community and help others that can be helped,” Morgan said.

A former marine and now air force reservist, Stefon Morgan, who has served the United States, will now serve the city of Dallas as a police officer.

With 18 out of the 46 officers being women, the police department is making history by having the most women graduating than in any other academy class--it's a first for the department.

"No matter what they want to do they can also do it whether it's male-dominated field or not, females can do just what a male can do,” April McLeod, one of the officer said.

Many of the graduating officers will begin their field training as early as Friday night.
