Dallas Officer Being Dragged Shoots Driver

Dallas police said an officer shot a man Friday night when he drove off during a traffic stop, dragging the officer, who was caught in the truck's door.

Police said officers pulled over Eric Foreman, 46, at about 8:15 p.m. when they saw him driving the wrong way on Harry Hines Boulevard.

Foreman began to drive away when the officers asked him to step out of his truck.

One of the officers was caught in the driver's open door and was dragged, police said. He pulled his weapon and fired once at Foreman, police said.

The truck then sped off down Empire Central Drive, throwing the officer off.

The officer's partner put the injured officer in their cruiser and chased Foreman, who pulled over at Empire Central and Brookriver drives.

Foreman was taken to Parkland Hospital, where he was in serious condition on Saturday.

The officer who shot Foreman was treated at the scene and released. The officer, a 12-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department, is on routine administrative leave.

Foreman will be charged with evading arrest and aggravated assault on a public servant, police said.
