Dallas Homeless Center Wins National Green Award

A Dallas homeless shelter is being honored by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Bridge homeless assistance center is located on Corsicana Street in the Central Business District.  It wsa designed to maximize daylight in order to reduce the use of artificial light.

The facility also uses a graywater recycling system that saves up to 1.5 million gallons of water each year, according to estimates.

The shelter is only the the second in the U.S. to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver Certification.
