Violent Crime Takes A Dive in Dallas

Stats down ten percent for murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault

It’s safer to live in Dallas than it was last year, according to Dallas Police Chief David Brown's crime-stats presentation to the council's Public Safety Committee Monday.

All violent crime numbers are down, some even in the double digits.

Brown told Unfair Park when it comes to violent crimes, "Our officers continue to work off sharing information they have in this city related to violent crime offenders really well, so a person committing a violent crime in Dallas has a high chance of getting caught and convicted."

Non-violent crime numbers are also down in every category except residential burglaries (residential burglaries are up just 0.3 percent).

Aggregate violent crimes are down 10 percent, while non-violent crimes are down 4 percent according to the report.
